Our Story

Illawarra Urgent Response was built on a simple belief: our community deserves support that genuinely cares about the people within it.

We are a proudly locally owned Illawarra organisation, created by people who live here, work here and call this community home.

Our story did not begin with a desire to simply build another business. It began with a desire to create an organisation that could support local events, organisations and communities while never losing sight of the people at the centre of everything we do.

From the beginning, we wanted Illawarra Urgent Response to stand for something.

We wanted to build an organisation where professionalism and compassion could exist side by side. Where people could receive help without judgement. Where event organisers could place their trust in a team that genuinely cared about their event and their community. And where doing the right thing would always matter more than doing the easiest thing.

That belief became Illawarra Urgent Response.

Today, we provide professional event first aid and a growing range of event and public support services throughout the Illawarra and surrounding communities.

But the services we provide are only one part of our story.

Our story can be found in the community events we attend, the people we meet, the conversations we have and the relationships we build along the way.

It is in the person who needs a reassuring voice when they are frightened.

It is in the event organiser who trusts us with the safety and wellbeing of their community.

It is in the young person who stops at one of our community displays and discovers an interest in first aid.

It is in the communities that welcome us back year after year.

And it is in every member of our team who puts on the Illawarra Urgent Response uniform knowing that the badge they wear represents a promise to treat people with dignity, kindness and respect.

We are proud of where we have come from, but our story is still being written.

As Illawarra Urgent Response continues to grow, we remain committed to ensuring that growth never comes at the expense of the values upon which we were built. We will continue listening to our community, learning from our experiences, improving our services and finding new ways to make a positive contribution to the places we serve.

We know that trust is not something an organisation is simply entitled to because of the name on its uniform. Trust must be earned.

It is earned through our actions, our professionalism, our compassion and our willingness to be accountable when we get things wrong.

Most importantly, we will never forget where our story began.
